Dr. Gokcen DEMİREL is a Professor at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, specialising in polymer chemistry, smart drug release systems, and smart surface coating. She obtained her B.S. (2003), M.S. (2004), and Ph.D. (2009) in Chemistry from Gazi University. During her doctoral studies, she conducted research at Penn State University in the United States (2008-2009) under the supervision of Prof. David ALLARA, focusing on self-assembled monolayers. In her postdoctoral research at Technische Universität Berlin (2010), Dr DEMIREL focused on polymeric nanoparticle synthesis for controlled drug delivery, under the guidance of Prof. Regine von KLITZING. Dr DEMIREL has authored over 40 research articles in high-impact journals, holds a TR-patent, and has contributed five book chapters. Her research interests include development of functional polymeric materials, drug delivery nanoparticle systems, injectable hydrogels, polymer engineering, and bio-inspired materials.
