"Mass Spectrometry - Key Tool in Material Analysis: Selected Examples From Nature And Modern Synthesis"
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Petr Bednář was born on August 31, 1974, in Vyškov, Czech Republic, and currently serves as the head of the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Science, Palacký University in Olomouc. Dr. Bednář earned his bachelor's (1997) and Ph.D. (2002) degrees in Analytical Chemistry from Palacký University, where he completed his postgraduate studies with research focused on capillary isotachophoresis methods. In his career, he has served in medical chemistry and biochemistry at Palacký University's Faculty of Medicine and later became an assistant professor in the Department of Analytical Chemistry. His research centred on microseparation techniques and the integration of mass spectrometry, particularly for food and plant material analysis. Since 2020, he has held the position of department head. Dr Bednář has undertaken various research scholarships and studies in countries such as Italy, the USA, and Austria. In 2011, he received the Faculty Dean's Award for his research on wine varieties. An expert in analytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, separation methods, and the analysis of biologically active compounds, Dr Bednář has significantly contributed to cultural heritage research through chemical analysis techniques. Additionally, he has published over 96 papers in high-impact journals. Dr Bednář is also a member of several academic committees and actively participates in multiple scientific societies, including serving as the vice-chair of the Chromatography and Electrophoresis Committee at the Czech Chemical Society. He has worked as a principal investigator, mentor, and advisor in various research projects, contributing to the development of new methods in chemical analysis.
