Dr. Omer Sadak is a new Assistant Professor at Clemson University, specialising in nanoparticle synthesis and characterisation, electrochemical and optical biosensors, and smart packaging solutions. He earned his B.S. degree (2010) in Chemistry from Turkey. Dr Sadak completed his M.S. degree (2014) and Ph.D. (2019) in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Following his Ph.D., Dr Sadak worked as a Senior Scientist in a medical device company in Los Angeles, CA. He then conducted independent research in Turkey, focusing on developing edible and antimicrobial food packaging materials. In his postdoctoral research at University of Nebraska Lincoln, Dr. Sadak specialized in immobilizing of single-walled carbon nanotube-based optical biosensors for disease monitoring under Prof. Nicole Iverson's supervision. Dr Sadak has published over 25 research articles in high-impact journals, holds a U.S. patent, and has contributed to two book chapters. He also serves editorial roles for leading scientific journals and has been invited to give seminars and talks internationally. His research interests include developing smart sensors for healthcare packaging and food packaging, aiming to address current healthcare and food safety challenges.
